Letter from our Executive Director - Nadia GuevaraMinimize

Dear Owasso Community Resources Friends,

I’m pleased to begin this letter with an announcement of new opportunities to support Owasso Community Resources’ mission and the many families that we serve each year. As the economy continues to affect many non-profits, we are facing challenges in raising funds to continue with our programs and meet the needs of the increased number of individuals who are struggling in our in serving area. This year, the number of families who needed help from our emergency utility assistance program has increased by 26% and we are helping 48% more families through our food pantry. With the increased number of people in need of our services, we can only anticipate the continued need for our annual projects such as school supplies, Thanksgiving Baskets and Holiday gifts.

Please consider donating to Owasso Community Resources, we have a number of new opportunities that can help us raise much needed funds. We have partnered with local businesses to begin our U Can Help Campaign.  A Touch of Sun, Beyond Nutrition, Boyd Family Dentistry, Complete Care Chiropractic, Fitness Together, and Uptown Salon are helping us collect a One-dollar donation by displaying a pledge card with the name of the person contributing to our cause. If you know of any additional business who would like to help support this campaign please contact our office. The campaign will run through September 1st, 2010.  Another way to help support our programs is to join the group: Friends of OCR. This is an opportunity for those who would prefer to contribute to our programs on a monthly basis. Monthly donations of $10 or more help us assist many parents who are not able to meet the basic needs of their family and need a helping hand from time to time. These contributions help us prevent children from going hungry because dad cannot find a better paying job. Your contributions also help avoid the disconnect of utilities so that families are able to continue taking showers, cook meals, and continue with their normal life.

And our third opportunity…We are very fortunate to have a generous, anonymous donor who has created a Grant Matching Fund Program for us. The donor has invited our organization to use this leadership gift to challenge and inspire others to support our programs to helps us have the availability to aid the increased number of people living in Owasso and Collinsville who need our help. The program applies to all financial contributions from foundations and corporations given to our organization through December 31, 2010. Matching funds will be given on a dollar-for-dollar basis up to a maximum of $100,000. We invite you to join us in our efforts to raise needed funds for our organization. Please contact me at 918-272-4969 or nguevara@owassohelps.org for more information.

Thank you for your consideration,
